If a destroyer is angled or in line with you the shell has farther to travel through the ship before it exits and will have less chance to over penetrate and cause major damage.īasically HE causes fires - damage over timeīasically AP causes extreme burst dps under certain circumstances. Now if a ship has lower armor you have a greater chance of "over penetrating" for example if a Battleship shoots a destroyer broadside, the AP rounds will have a high chance for them to just pass clean through the ship and cause little damage. I will run AP rounds usually.ĪP rounds as mentioned above, if able to penetrate can cause instant ship deletions with citadel hits as described above. ![]() I'm in a battleship or cruiser with big guns. ![]() If I have a big guns on my ship and can penetrate most armors I.E. It is very situational and personal preference plays a role.
